A quarter of the way and we have gameplay! At this point in time, we have:
- Basic functionality of the gameplay mechanics
- A small sandbox level for the player hop around in
- A functional NPC
- Concepts for UI elements
- A concept for the art style at high quality
- An understanding of how the parts of a character should be layered for animation purposes
The controls:
- WASD or Arrow Keys to move the player
- Space to interact with the NPC
- Q to turn the settings button into a platform
- Using the mouse, you can click and drag the platform to move it where ever you want!
- To snap the platform back to being a settings button, drag it over to the white square hovering near the corner
- Note: Sometimes this square goes out of camera bounds. To fix this, move the player back to the middle of the room.
As we move towards future updates, look forward to some character portrait art (of all qualities!), a more cohesive level with interactable objects, a sneak peek at one of the many characters you can interact with in game, and a basic example of how the gameplay mechanics will work with each other in a puzzle! Also, we plan to improve:
- Player movement! The player will have a more moderate speed and a less slippery quality
- UI to Platform functionality!
We're excited to continue our progress and show off more of the world as we build our game! Make sure to stick around!
